There are many different ways that a poker player can play in a tournament setting. In a high speed, high adrenaline poker tournament like a sit and go tournament it is important for players to play tight in the beginning rounds of the tournament and gradually loosen their playing up until they are playing very loosely and aggressively during the final rounds. This is the most common tournament strategy used in a sit and go tournament, however, new poker players sometimes take this strategy too much to heart. While it is important to generally increase the aggressiveness and looseness of your poker playing during the progression of a sit and go tournament, it is also important to make smart plays, which means that sometimes a poker player will need to play tight even if the guide book says to play loose.

In the beginning of the sit and go poker tournament most of the well-read and experienced poker players will play tightly. This means that the players will tend to play mostly just the top starting hands. This is the best strategy to use during the early rounds because the blind limits are so low, that the pot really isn’t worth working aggressively for. However, in a sit and go the blinds don’t stay low valued for long, and as the value of the blinds increase, so should the players aggressiveness and looseness.

This is not to say that a player in a sit and go should only play tightly during the early rounds, instead it is saying that after the early rounds of the sit and go poker tournament, the player will need to be more selective about the types of hands they want to play tightly. Situation that occur during the later rounds in a sit and go poker tournament that require tight playing as opposed to loose playing include situations where the game involves several aggressive players who are fighting for the pot and your hand is not very strong. This is a great time to play passively and fold out of the hand early on. This will help to minimize the losses that are experienced by cutting your losses early.

Another situation that occurs later in the poker tournament that a player can benefit more from a passive move is during a heads-up situation where you can read your opponent and you know that their hand is better than yours. It is better to fold out of a hand instead of going all in, even though it means that you lose a large percentage of your stack. The benefit of this move is that you are still in the game, even if it is just for one more hand of poker.

Here are some details of texas holdem tournaments rules.

Online Poker is a game that you play via the Internet. It is, however, not like video poker that you can play by yourself. You are connected to a game server via the Internet where you play with at least two and maximum ten players. The larger tournaments have several thousand people all playing at once at different tables.

When you play online poker, you are not playing against the “house”. The house never gambles and is a neutral third party. You don’t make bets with the poker site, rather with the other players playing poker online. The house or the poker site makes money by collecting a small amount of each pot before giving it to the winner.

Online Poker consists of four main elements – the poker web site, poker client, poker game server and the players. Here is how it works:

You can find all the information about the games hosted by the site, the rules, promotions, upcoming events, and the place from which you download the poker client on the main poker web site.

The poker client is the program you install on your own PC. It has a graphical display of the poker game showing the players and cards along with the necessary buttons you use to bet and fold. When you run it, it connects to the poker game server.

Poker game server is the central computer that hosts the poker games. The game server runs a computer program that acts as all three – the dealer, floorman as well as the cashier and ensures that all rules are followed correctly. It also facilitates all communication with and between the players.

The players are the people who are playing poker with each other. Each one is at his own computer running his own program via the internet. Also experience winning at Mac Texas Holdem

Online poker can be played with chips or real money. When playing with chips, the online room will give you a few chips and keep refilling the ones you have lost. Some rooms have a limit on the amount they will give you. When you play for real money, stakes range from small change to hundreds of dollars. The sites make their profit by collecting “rake” from the real money pots, but they are happy to host the play money games as a promotional expense.

Bwin Poker Room: Overview

Bwin Poker is a relatively new comer to the poker scene – featuring great software with excellent, clean looking graphics and catering for many different types of players. Traffic and bonuses may not be as good as the best poker rooms, but they sure make up for it in look and feel.

Review

Bwin Poker is supported by the online gaming and betting group Bwin, who have provided a trusted and reliable service in their industry. The software is excellent and if you are looking for a new experience this is definitely the place to play poker. A poker room to watch for the future and maybe you want to get in now to take advantage of their promotions.

The Bwin poker room offers good access to poker tournaments, but because their player base is still growing, there will not be as many players as the big well known poker sites. You can of course, use this to your advantage. All the popular versions of poker are offered – Texas Holdem, Omaha and Stud poker.

Good software that caters for all players, including Mac users.

Doylesroom-Poker is run by poker stars Doyle Brunson and Mike Caro. The traffic to the site is not very high but it offers many free rolls.

Review

Doylesroom-Poker is running on software created by Tribeca Tables. The software does include some nice functions such as a buddy list and live floor managers. Unfortunately the lobby does not show view flop percentages for the tables.

The variety at Doylesroom-Poker is quite poor as the site only offers Texas Hold’em and Omaha. The site is also has a shortage of high stakes games. However, the competition is rather soft as many players from other network partners are fairly new to poker.

Doylesroom-Poker offers frequent free rolls, usually five or six per day, with prize pools ranging from $200 to $2,500.

Overview

Gamingclub-Poker is known for its liberal bonus offerings and the site also has many tables with aggressive play.

Review

The software Gamingclub-Poker is using is a tailored, shared-network version of Prima Poker Network by Microgaming. The fact that the site shares its player network with other poker rooms ensures a high traffic of players. However, the software falls short of the industry standard. During peak hours some 3,500 real-money players try their luck at the tables. Note that there are many short-handed tables with five or six players. The competition at many of the tables is soft as Gamingclub-Poker offers some of the loosest games around.

The rake is less attractive than at other poker rooms. Low limit games, up to $1-$2 are capped at $1.50, while most other rooms take $1.

Overview

24hPoker has the highest traffic in the industry for five-card draw poker. Recently many sports betting customers have joined 24hPoker resulting in plenty of loose action.

Review

24hPoker is running on Java based software that has some extra functionality worth mentioning. Players have extra time to think when betting on big pots and also have seven seconds to re-buy after going all-in. The site attracts a big European crowd, ensuring that the tables are full when it’s evening in Europe.

Thanks to the recent addition of many sports betting customers many of the tables at 24hPoker see some very wild action. For Texas Hold’em tables view the flop percentages in the 60s are not uncommon.

24hPoker offers an interesting variety of games. In addition to the games seen at most poker rooms the site has Soko (Scandinavian Stud), 5-card draw, and Triple Draw Lowball.

Overview

Pokerroom is available both as a no-download version and a download version. The site also lets Mac users play without installing any additional software.

Review

Pokerroom is by many considered to have the best designed software. It comes both as a Java applet and as the standard Windows download. The Java version is especially popular among Mac and Linux users as they don’t need a Windows emulator to participate in the games. As for the poker, Pokerroom offers two daily $1,000 free rolls that draw a lot of traffic. The site focuses on Texas Hold’em but has added Omaha and Seven-Card Stud to its lineup.

Thanks to good positioning in search engines Pokerroom offers there are quite a few soft games available. Many of the Hold’em games have a view the flop percentage in the 50s and 60s.

It’s worth noting that Pokerroom is giving away a WSOP seat worth $13,500 in June 2005.

Overview

Pacificpoker is a fast growing poker room with plenty of games with loose and wild action.

Review

Pacificpoker has grown tremendously over the last twelve months. During peak playing hours up to 5,000 real-money players can be found on the site. There are plenty of loose, high-action tables. There is a good chance that Pacificpoker has the juiciest poker games on the Internet. There are a lot of inexperienced players at the tables and view flop percentages in the 50s and 60s are not uncommon. In Early 2005 Pacificpoker introduced no-limit and pot-limit cash games to its site. There are micro-limit games down to $0.05-$0.1. The rake is at par with the industry average.

Promotions are frequent and players can expect money added and free rolls.

Despite several attempts to improve it, Pacificpoker still has sub-standard software. Slowness and rudimentary graphics is, unfortunately, part of the Pacificpoker experience.

Overview

The tables at Interpoker are wild and loose and the site boasts a $90 monthly loyalty bonus.

Review

Interpoker is run by the second largest casino in the world, Inter Casino. It uses CryptoLogic software and network and shares its player base with a couple of other poker rooms, for example William Hill.

As far as traffic goes Interpoker has about 2,000 real-money players during peak hours.

The rake Interpoker is taking is somewhat bigger than the industry average. Interpoker takes 5 percent of every pot over $5.

The competition at the Interpoker tables is relatively soft. There are many inexperienced players trying their luck and view flop percentages are often in the 40s or 50s.

Interpoker has a monthly $90 re-load given to players as they first deposit money and then completes 450 real-money hands with raked hands. This is the highest loyalty bonus in the industry.

Compared to other poker rooms, the games on UB are more competitive. Tables at the $0.5-$1 limit have view flop percentages in the mid 30s.

There is a great variety of games on UB. Some examples are 2-7 Triple Draw and Pineapple.

UB has a very generous sign-up bonus and an average loyalty bonus.
